Poole's Outline of 1 Samuel 10


Samuel anointeth Saul, 1; confirms him by prediction of three signs, 2-8. Saul prophesies, 9-13. He cometh to his uncle; telleth him what Samuel had said concerning the asses, but concealeth the matter of the kingdom, 14-16. Samuel assembleth the people at Mizpeh, 17-20. Saul is chosen king by lot; but hideth himself; is discovered by God. His stature, 21-23. Samuel presents him to the people, who receive him with shouting, 24. Samuel writeth the manner of the kingdom in a book, 25. God inspires the people with reverence towards Saul; but the children of Belial despise him, 26, 27.

Dr. Steven Dilday holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), and both a Master of Divinity and a  Ph.D. in Puritan History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He is also the translator of Matthew Poole's Synopsis of Biblical Interpreters and Bernardinus De Moor’s Didactico-Elenctic Theology.
