The Parts of the Prophecy are three:


I. The judgments of God against the nations, Chapters 1:1-2:3.

1. Against the Syrians, Philistines, etc.: chapter 1.

2. Against the Moabites: chapter 2:1-3.


II. The judgment of God against Judah and Israel, Chapters 2:4-9:10: in which are:

1. A general denunciation: chapters 2:4-3:10.

a. Against Judah and Israel: chapter 2:4-16.

b. The righteousness of the judgment: chapter 3:1-10.

2. A particular denunciation: chapters 3:11-9:10: made against:

a. Samaria: chapters 3:11-5:27: in which are:

α. The breadth of the punishment: chapter 3:11-15.

β. The causes: chapter 4:1-11.

γ. A call to repentance: chapters 4:12-5:27.

b. Jerusalem and the ten tribes: chapters 6:1-9:10: in which are:

α. Its sins: chapter 6.

β. A sign preceding the destruction: chapter 7:1-9.

γ. The order of execution: chapters 7:10-8:3:

δ. The final destruction: chapters 8:4-9:10.


III. An Evangelical Promise, Chapter 9:11-15.
