John blesses his readers in the Name of the Triune God. Mystery surrounds the title given to the Father, "Him which is, and which was, and which is to come". Because of the difficulties, this week's selection from Poole will repay careful reading.

Whatever happened to the Benediction? This week's video is comparatively brief, but no less important for its brevity. Some things to consider: 1. Do you have trouble appropriating the promises of Scripture for yourself? 2. Are you convinced that the Benediction is a Biblical ordinance? 3. Is the Benediction proclaimed in your church's worship service? 4. If so, are you receiving in faith? 5. If not, what can you do to see reformation at this point?

What is the state of the Public Reading of God's Word? Is it waning? If it is waning, what is lost? Are you convinced that it is a Biblical ordinance, coming to us by way of explicit commandment and approved example? If so, what should you do?

A special blessing is attached to the reading and hearing of God's Word. What a blessing to have it! Thanks be to the Most High, the Speaking God! A question: Given this great blessing, what has happened to the public reading of God's Word in our Evangelical Churches? See Poole's Synopsis on this Verse.

One of the great interpretive questions involved in Apocalyptic Interpretation is whether the book is to be interpreted figuratively or literally. In the midst of this further description of John himself, we catch our first glimpse of an answer. See Poole's comments.

Although I feel like the material in the video was delivered with great weakness, nevertheless it is of paramount importance in the interpretation of this Book. Questions for consideration: 1. Are you able to name and explain the four great interpretive schemes? 2. Are you able to reproduce my argument concerning the impact that "things which must shortly come to pass" has on Idealism and Futurism? 3. Do you understand the significance of John's borrowing and modifying this expression from Daniel's prophecy? 4. Now evaluate for yourself. Are you persuaded by the argument present?

1. Having watched the video, and perhaps even read the portion from Poole's Synopsis, are you able to reproduce in your own mind the argument against "Apocalyptic Skepticism"? Are you persuaded that the Book of Revelation is indeed revelation, an unveiling, rather than a concealing? Are you persuaded that this Book, as revelation, is possible to interpret, and that rightly, in spite of the difficulty? 2. When we read the Scripture, our Jesus is speaking to us about Himself. How does that inform, and even transform, the way that you read?
