The parts:


I. Congratulations concerning the faith received in Christ, and their love towards the saints, chapter 1:1-8.

II. An exhortation to seek an increase of faith, and to beware of seduction from Christ, chapters 1:9-2:23.

1. To seek an increase of faith: chapter 1:9-29.

2. To beware of seduction from Christ: chapter 2.


III. An exhortation to the exercises of piety, chapters 3; 4.

1. To the mortification of the old man, the renovation of the new, specific duties: chapter 3.

2. To prayer, upright conversation. The close: chapter 4.

ABOUT US

Dr. Steven Dilday holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), and both a Master of Divinity and a  Ph.D. in Puritan History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He is also the translator of Matthew Poole's Synopsis of Biblical Interpreters and Bernardinus De Moor’s Didactico-Elenctic Theology.
